Development

The Chamberlain: 269 West 87th Street

The Chamberlain is a newly constructed luxury, 17-storey building collaboratively designed by FXFOWLE and Alexandra Champalimaud to house 2 to 5 bedroom residences and 4 to 5 bedroom duplex residences and townhouses. The layouts are inspired by the pre-war, classic architecture and the building holds formal entry galleries to add to this vibe. The hand-laid oak flooring, Juliet balconies, custom imported hardware, spacious kitchens by Smallbone of Devizes, and master bedrooms with marble floors mirror grandeur and evoke classic architecture and details.

The neighborhood features an entire fabric of premium dining, museums, parks, shopping malls, and much more. Amenities include a Garden Courtyard, children's playroom, rock-climbing wall, soccer and basketball courts, fireplace, the Library Lounge, and a two-story lobby to name a few from a lengthy list.

CITY REALTY ARTICLE

This very  handsome, 18-story, mid-block apartment building at 267 West 67th Street between Broadway and West End Avenue is known as The Chamberlain and was erected in 2016.

It was built by Simon Baron Development, which is headed by Jonathan Simon and Matthew Baron, and Quadrum Global and designed by FXFowle, whose other recent buildings in the city include Greenwich Lane and 35XV.

Alexandra Champalimaud is the interior designer.

It has 39 apartments.

According to a July 7, 2016 article by Will Parker at therealdeal.com, "Simon Baron and Quadrum do not own the site but are leasing it for 99 years from the current owner, Riverview Operating Companies."  "The partners signed the $90 million land lease at 269 West 87th Street in 2015...Because the building is going upon leased land, a co-op-type structure must be used for the building's residential apartments.  A representative for Simon Baron Development referred to the units  as 'condops,' a term typically used for projects with commercial components but sometimes also to indicate a co-op building with more condo-style management rules."
